Capital Campaign Phase II

Building the Faith campaign continues!

Campaign Update:  As of April 1, 2008

We are currently at $3,638,391.
We are climbing closer to our goal of $4.0 Million.
Thanks to all of you who have donated and keep praying for our continued success!

Update!
GICC Donor Recognition Campaign Underway

A donor recognition wall is included in the design for the new athletic center at Grand Island Central Catholic. Every donor who makes a contribution of $1,000 or more will be listed on the display.

"We believe this is a great way to acknowledge those who have given at that level," GICC Executive Director Karen Robison said.

The Builders of the Faith Wall will stand across from the concession area and is guaranteed to receive great visibility. Contributors who have already made a gift of $1,000 or more will be included. Others, who've made a donation of less than $1,000 and would like to increase their gift to ensure inclusion, are encouraged to contact the development foundation, as are those who are now ready to make their commitment.

"The bigger the donation the bigger the tile on the donor wall," Robison said. "We will start with a 3" x 6" tile for those at the $1,000 level and go up to 12" x 12" for donations of $100,000 and above."

Each donor will have their name or that of a loved one, engraved as specified.  Listed below are the various tile sizes along with the level of giving.
            Pillars (12 x 12)  $100,000 and above
            Crusaders (8 x 12)    $50,000-$99,999
            Educators (6 x 12)   $25,000-$49,999
            Renovators (4 x 12)   $10,000-$24,999
            Patrons (4 x 8)     $5,000-$9,999
            Knights (3 x 6)     $1,000-$4,999

Central Catholic Schools is celebrating its 50th year of providing quality faith based education.  Central Catholic is continuing its committment to excellence through the continuation of the "Building the Faith" campaign.  Phase II of the campaign is now underway with the goal of expanding the fine arts and athletic center, enhancing faculty benefits, and increasing the endowment.

Update!   GICC Campaign Continues to Climb

August 29, 2006 --
Supporters continue to jump on board Grand Island Central Catholic's Building the Faith Capital Campaign. To date more than $3.4 million in gifts and pledges have been donated to the effort.
"We've received wonderful support from our friends," GICC executive director of development Karen Robison said. "We're working towards that final $1 million and with God's blessing we'll get there."
Pledges to the effort have come from parents, alumni, past parents, private businesses, area leaders and foundations.
"I can't say thank you enough for the love and support that's been shown by the community," Robison said. "It's staggering when one considers the effort that has been put forth by those making sacrificial gifts and of course our volunteers who are out there spreading the word about GICC."
Since February, volunteers have been busy circulating throughout Grand Island and surrounding towns looking for support. Many have called on those living out of the state as well.
The second major fund raising effort at the school since 2002 is designed to provide funding to build two fine arts classrooms, a new gymnasium, improve teacher/staff benefits, increase the endowment and address facility needs.
If you need more information before making your gift to the campaign please contact the GICC development foundation at 308-382-5499..

Update!
SIBLINGS UNITE TO HONOR PARENTS
September 7, 2006 --
The new choral classroom at Grand Island Central Catholic High School will be called the Ziller Choral Classroom thanks to a donation from the children of Paul and Rosella Ziller. The siblings and their children have united to pledge $50,000 to GICC's Building the Faith Capital Campaign to name the classroom.
"We are excited that the Ziller family wanted to honor their parents with this naming opportunity," GICC's executive director of development Karen Robison said. "It's a wonderful way for the children to say thank you for the sacrifices Paul and Rosella made during their lives."
Rosella, and her husband who passed away in 1986, had 13 children, 11 of whom attended GICC. Another 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild attended GICC as well. If you include spouses, the number of Zillers who graduated from GICC totals 34.
"They mean so much to us," said Tom Ziller, one of 46 grandchildren. "This is the least we can do for them. This way my grandparents will be remembered forever, long after the last Ziller walks out of the halls."
The Building the Faith Capital Campaign has received more than $3.2 million in gifts and pledges. For more information please contact the Grand Island Central Catholic development foundation.

Methods of Giving

There are a number of ways one may make a gift to a capital campaign. Listed below are some creative giving options.

Priority Budgeting
Many families will choose to rearrange their priorities and give up something currently in their budget in order to give to the capital campaign. Priority budget-ing may lead to postponing or adjusting a planned expenditure such as a new car, a vacation, or home remodeling.

Re-channeling a Present
Expenditure Many families incur short-term heavy expenditures for special needs. For instance, some families have heavy expenses while their children attend college. They learn to budget their money during those years to cover those costs. One couple decided that since their children were graduating, they would give what they had been spending on college education to the capital campaign.

Gifts of Unexpected Cash
In addition to a regular pledge period commitment, several people give unexpected cash. Many people give their income tax refunds as a part of their commitment.

Gifts from Increases in Income
Some people have incremental salary increases or bonuses in their employment contracts. You may wish to include these anticipated salary increases in your commitment.

Gifts of Accumulated Cash
Some people save money over a period of years for a special project (a vacation cabin or a new car or truck). You may wish to share all or some of your "dream" savings to the campaign.

Gifts of Valuable Real and Personal Property
One couple may give a late model car. Others may give jewelry or other valuable property. An unencumbered piece of real estate that is readily
saleable can be a wonderful gift.

Gifts of Stocks and Bonds
Stock gifts can be very advantageous to both the donor and the church. A tax attorney or tax accountant can advise about the most advantageous
way to make the transfer.

Gifts of Life Insurance
Some people accumulate cash in insurance policies, which can be given in support of the campaign.

Trusts and Wills
While such gifts do not provide immediate benefit to our campaign, they are marvelous gifts of com-mitment to supplement what you may be able to pledge over the campaign.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Below are a number of frequently asked questions (FAQ) about our Building the Faith Capital Campaign.

How long will the campaign run?
The pledge period will span five years. The donor determines the schedule for making his or her pledge on an annual, semi-annual, monthly or quarterly basis. We hope to have the majority of donations in and recorded by January 2010.

What is the campaign goal?
We have celebrated at $3 million, but we are now challenging our supporters to raise $4 million.

What are the options for spreading out my campaign pledge?
Your total gift may be spread out over the entire five-year campaign. You may elect to give monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or yearly. You may start your pledge at any time during the five-year period.

What options do I have for giving?
You can pledge to the campaign with a gift of cash, real estate, stocks/mutual funds, annuities or life insurance.

Who will be asked to make a gift to the campaign?
Volunteers will attempt to meet personally with as many GICC supporters as possible. This includes faculty/staff, current parents, past parents and alumni. Parishioners of St. Mary's, St. Leo's, Blessed Sacrament and Resurrection will also be solicited.

Are we receiving professional assistance with our campaign?
Yes. The school has hired the Steier Group, a professional fundraising organization from Omaha to provide guidance.

How will the campaign address the needs for GICC?
$2.6 million from the campaign is earmarked for the new athletic center. $400,000 will be used to build two fine arts classrooms. $350,000 will go towards faculty benefits and $350,000 towards the school endowment. The final $300,000 is designed to address upgrades of the 50-year old building. This includes the installation of a new fire/safety sprinkler system.

When will we break ground?
It's finished! Ribbon ceremony was celebrated at the dedication on February 2, 2007.

How can we begin construction without having funds available?
We have secured $4 million in bonds that will allow us to begin the project as soon as possible. The donations raised in our capital campaign will be used to pay off the bonds as expediently as possible.

What should I do if I want to help the capital campaign?
You may contact GICC Development Director Karen Robison.
